Community Cornerstone

from Supt. Dr. Tracy Smith

June 4, 2026
Dear NUSD Staff and Community,

As we wait for the final results of the June 2nd election, I want to take a moment to speak directly to everyone who poured their heart and energy into the campaign for Measure G.
To everyone who gave so much of their time: thank you for everything. To our donors, our endorsers, and every single person who put up a yard sign, canvassed our neighborhoods, or talked to a neighbor about the importance of this parcel tax—I am profoundly grateful for your dedication to our students and our schools. Your hard work represents the very best of our community.

I want to give you a clear picture of where things stand right now. Due to an unprecedented surge in voting, the county elections office is processing an exceptionally high volume of ballots, and it is going to take some time before we have certified, final results.
There is still a significant number of ballots left to be counted. Given where the measure currently sits, we still have some hope that the final numbers will provide us a win for our district and our students. The registrar of voters is working diligently, and new ballot counts are scheduled to be published on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of this upcoming week. We are monitoring these updates closely, and as soon as we know more, we will share this news with you.

We are all anxious to understand what the election outcome will mean for our classrooms. Once the ballot counts are closer to being finalized and we have a clearer picture of the results, we will present an update on the district’s current budget status. Piecing together these projections under fluctuating timelines takes careful planning and thought, so this part of the process could take some time. Rest assured that our priority will always be protecting the integrity of our core academic programs and supporting our staff to the absolute best of our ability.

Thank you again to everyone who stood up for our schools over the past several months. Your passion for public education is what keeps our district strong.

Warmly,
Dr. Tracy Smith
Superintendent

NUSD is typically staged on Sweetser Avenue around 9:30 AM. We will not have a school bus this year, so we are hoping for lots of district and school spirit from everyone who joins us!

2026-2027 School Year - Aeries Parent Data Confirmation

As we look ahead to the start of the new school year, it is almost time to confirm or update your student’s Parent Data Confirmation or Back-to-School Forms in Aeries, our student information system. You will receive notification in early August when access is available.

NUSD uses Aeries so families can conveniently access and update student information through the same platform already used to view student records and information.

Completing the Parent Data Confirmation/Back-to-School Forms is required for every student in your family. Accurate and current student and emergency contact information is essential to helping us maintain safe, effective communication and support for all students throughout the school year.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete this important process when it becomes available!
