Olive families welcome to the 2016/17 school year. Our new Olive School website has a wealth of information, please take time to explore. We have also redesigned the Olive Logo (Sharky has an updated look) and we have a new vendor for our spirit wear. It is all very exciting.
There have been some staffing changes. Ms. Christina Lunde has taken an exciting job with the Marin County Office of Education working with the Math/Science grant. She will be truly missed but will be supporting teachers throughout the county in math and science. Ms. Wallisa Stearman has been hired to teach 4th grade with Ms. Koyl. Ms. Stearman has extensive experience working in 4th grade and is looking forward to joining the Olive staff.
Ms. Natalie Butler has taken a job working in Mill Valley closer to her home. Again another teacher truly missed by all. Ms. Karen Wolf has been hired to teach kindergarten with Ms. Castro. Ms. Wolf is excited to begin her teaching career at Olive.
There have been some resignations with our yard supervisors. If you are interested in doing yard supervision, before, during or after school please see Carla in the office.
If you are new to Olive here is a little background about me. I am beginning my 4th year as the Olive principal. I was a principal for 6 years in Santa Rosa and a special education teacher for 19 years in Petaluma. My husband and I have lived in Novato since 1985 and I am truly proud to be working and living in Novato. We have the most amazing school. This year Olive is beginning year 1 of our Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) focus. Our teachers will be using this focus throughout the year during the instructional time and developing Project Based Learning (PBL) activities with the STEAM focus.
Looking forward to seeing all of you soon. If you have any questions please call me at 415-897-2131.
